The market tests the trader, not just the strategy
Dilshad is an independent cryptocurrency trader based in Trivandrum, Kerala, India. One idea he keeps returning to is that most people lose money in crypto not because they lack information, but because they lack process. Charts, news and analysis are available to everyone. What differs is how a person behaves when a position moves against them.
The emotions that move trades
- Fear of missing out. A price is rising fast, and the urge to jump in overrides the plan. Entries made from FOMO tend to be late and oversized.
- Greed. A position is already profitable, so the exit is moved further away "just a little". The profit is given back.
- Fear of loss. A losing trade is held far past its planned exit because closing it would make the loss real.
- Revenge trading. After a loss, a new trade is opened quickly to win it back, usually with less thought and more size.
Separating emotion from decision
Dilshad's method is to move decisions to the moments when emotion is lowest. The plan for a trade is made before it is opened. The exit is set before the price starts to move. The size is fixed by a rule rather than by confidence. When the market gets loud, the trader is following a decision that was already made, not inventing a new one under pressure.
Habits that help
- Write the reason for each trade before entering it.
- Take a break after a large loss or an unusually large win. Both distort judgment.
- Review trades on a schedule, away from the screen.
- Accept that some setups will be missed, and that missing them costs nothing.
Calm is a skill
Emotional discipline is not the absence of feeling. It is the habit of acting on the plan anyway. Like any skill it improves with practice and review, which is why continuous learning is one of the four principles that guide Dilshad's approach, together with research before action and risk management.
